Several years ago I decided to change careers and leave corporate life. My new goal was to find a way to give back and help others. So, in 2016, I completed an accelerated massage therapy program. It was an intense experience, but I knew I was in the right field the moment I performed my first massage.
To fast track my learning, I hired one of the school’s instructors for extra tutoring, and during one of those sessions, I learned about Erik Dalton’s techniques and experienced them for myself. I felt immediate relief in an area that had been bothering me for years. It was an instant game changer & I knew I wanted to learn everything Erik Dalton had to offer… every tool, every technique, and every assessment, I wanted to learn it all right then and there. Unfortunately, I had to be patient and get my massage therapy license before taking any MAT trainings. It took time to build my practice, so it wasn’t until 2019 that I was able to attend my first Erik Dalton workshop. I was completely blown away by the live event! Client after client popped into my mind as I learned the techniques. Then a year later my massage practice was closed down during Covid. This gave me time to focus on the MAT online courses, and when I started up my practice again I was prepared with even more techniques than before.
Over the past few years, I’ve used many of the MAT techniques with my clients and each of them has benefited greatly. Clients commonly walk away with less pain and more ROM than they’ve had in years! I’m also proud to say I’m developing quite a reputation in my community.
Recently, I completed a workshop with Nate Fay and it was a lot of fun being back in class with fellow therapists again. I’m so excited to have earned my Master Myoskeletal Therapist certification and so are my clients. I will continue to learn from Erik through his newsletters, blogs, and courses; I’m a MAT student for life!
