Master Myoskeletal Therapist Spotlight: Eric Neil, MMT | New Haven, Vermont
For Eric Neil, the journey into bodywork has been more than four decades in the making.
His interest began in 1984, long before he became a professional certified massage therapist. Throughout the years, Eric remained fascinated by approaches that could help him better understand the human body and provide more effective therapeutic care.
A longtime interest in Rolfing helped shape that curiosity. However, his introduction to Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques® (MAT) came through an unexpected experience: receiving bodywork himself.
While working with a self taught therapist in Vermont, Eric encountered techniques that would eventually influence his professional direction. He later recognized some of those techniques during massage school but felt there was more to understand about how and why they worked.
Rather than simply learning the movements, Eric wanted to explore the reasoning behind them.
That desire led him to enroll in an online MAT course, and the experience quickly confirmed his interest.
“I was completely hooked,” Eric recalls.
What impressed him most was the depth of knowledge supporting the techniques and the broad range of skills they offered.
“The results!” he says when describing what he appreciates most about MAT.
For Eric, the training provided an opportunity to connect practical bodywork techniques with a deeper understanding of their application.
Today, as a massage therapist in New Haven, Vermont, Eric incorporates this knowledge into his work with clients.
The response has been particularly meaningful. Some of his dedicated clients have expressed appreciation for an approach they had been searching for over many years.
“I have dedicated clients, including a massage therapist of 30 years experience, tell me they’ve been looking for this kind of work for years,” Eric shares.
That feedback reflects the significance of his continued education and the value clients have found in his approach.
Earning his Master Myoskeletal Therapist® (MMT) certification represents another milestone in a professional journey defined by curiosity and persistence.
His advice to massage therapists considering MAT education is straightforward.
“You can do so much good for people with these techniques. I highly recommend this method.”
Congratulations to Eric Neil on earning his MMT certification and joining the Master Myoskeletal Therapist community. His decades long commitment to learning demonstrates how curiosity and dedication can continue shaping a massage therapy career at every stage.
