Master Myoskeletal Therapist Spotlight: Douglas Tran, MMT | Bentonville, Arkansas
For Douglas Tran, becoming a massage therapist was only the beginning of a journey toward understanding how therapeutic bodywork could help people with more complex physical concerns.
After graduating from massage school in 2016, Douglas began his career providing relaxation massage. Two years later, he expanded his experience by working as an independent contractor offering massage therapy to athletes.
During that time, he began noticing a recurring theme in conversations with clients. Many were seeking help with chronic pain, frozen shoulders, hand numbness, and restricted joint movement.
Douglas recognized that their needs called for an approach beyond relaxation massage.
“I knew I have to do more than relaxation massage,” he recalls.
In 2018, a conversation with another massage therapist introduced him to Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques® (MAT). Interested in developing his therapeutic skills, Douglas began exploring this approach to bodywork.
What followed was a gradual transformation in how he worked with clients.
Rather than focusing primarily on relaxation, Douglas began incorporating MAT techniques into his sessions with clients’ permission. His practice increasingly emphasized individualized therapeutic bodywork, with attention to each person’s specific concerns and comfort.
One distinctive part of his approach is providing bodywork while clients remain fully clothed. For Douglas, this allows him to combine a comfortable, professional experience with hands on therapeutic techniques.
“Many of my clients appreciate my personalized approach because I focus on their individual needs,” he shares.
Today, as a massage therapist in Bentonville, Arkansas, Douglas continues to emphasize personalized care. His work reflects a commitment to adapting sessions to the individual rather than relying on a single routine for everyone.
His progression from relaxation massage to therapeutic bodywork demonstrates how continuing education can shape a therapist’s professional direction.
Having earned his Master Myoskeletal Therapist® (MMT) certification on September 7, 2026, Douglas encourages other massage therapists interested in expanding their skills to explore MAT education.
Congratulations to Douglas Tran on achieving his MMT certification and joining the Master Myoskeletal Therapist community. His dedication to continued learning and individualized client care reflects the value of growing professionally to better serve others.
