An Overland Park, KS native, Thomas had already earned his first black belt in karate before joining the Marine Corps after high school, where he graduated at the top of his class from Marine Corps Scout Sniper school and discovered a new way to train: CrossFit. After serving two tours overseas Thomas’ enlistment in the USMC ended and he moved to Lawrence, KS with his brother Kyle where he opened the first CrossFit gym in Lawrence, CrossFit Lawrence. Since then, Thomas’ gym has grown to encompass so much more than CrossFit that he decided to re-brand it: Thatchers’ Training Center.
