The Journey of a Therapist: Discovering My Passion for Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques
My journey in the healing arts has taken a bit longer than I initially anticipated, but it’s a path I’ve cherished every step of the way. It all began in 2009, shortly after I completed massage school, when I attended my first Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT) seminar. From that moment on, I was hooked.
What captivated me was the structure of the techniques and the remarkable results they produced. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of seeing a client get off the table, visibly transformed. Even more rewarding were the texts I’d receive afterward, filled with gratitude and excitement about how much better they felt after their treatment. It was clear: MAT was going to be a game changer for my practice.
I started integrating MAT techniques with all my injured clients, and as I did, I found myself networking with physical therapists, chiropractors, and personal trainers. I aimed to become the “go-to” therapist in my area, and it worked! Physical therapists reported increased range of motion in their patients, and chiropractors loved how much easier their adjustments became after my treatments.
Interestingly, I’ve been a personal trainer longer than I’ve been a massage therapist. This unique combination has created a dynamic experience for my clients; they often love and hate me at the same time! But I’ve come to realize that MAT is the missing piece that truly completes my practice.
For the past 16 years, I’ve been inspired and supported by Erik Dalton and the Dalton Gang. Their passion for the craft is palpable at every seminar, and the community they’ve built is incredibly supportive. I’m proud to be part of this wonderful group of professionals and encourage anyone in the healing arts to add MAT to their toolbox.
Thank you, Erik and the Dalton Gang, for all that you do. Your work has made a profound impact on my practice and the lives of my clients.
