In 1993, a car accident left me with a fractured neck between C5 and C6, leading to severe inflammation and debilitating pain. This experience led me to seek out massage therapy as a vital reprieve from daily suffering. It took years of various physical therapies before my body began to function more normally. During this time, I developed an interest in studying massage. In August 1994, I earned my massage technician certificate from Mueller College of Holistic Studies in San Diego. Two years later, I completed my training as a massage therapist and also traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to study beginner Thai massage. Massage became my lifelong vocation, and I committed myself to continuous improvement for both personal growth and client care. After several years in the field, I met Freddy Rivera, who introduced me to Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT). In June 2023, I attended Dalton’s MAT workshop in Oklahoma City while recovering from a chronic injury that had caused debilitating sciatica and a noticeable limp. Remarkably, by the second day of the workshop, I was running up and down the hallway! Excited by this transformation, I signed up for Dalton’s MAT workshop in Costa Rica at the end of that year. There, I committed to completing my MMT certification and purchased the entire MAT course library. My goal was to finish the MMT program by June 2024 and return to Costa Rica for the June workshop, where Erik Dalton would personally present my MMT certificate. I am proud and humbled to hold this prestigious certification. Integrating MAT into my practice has been incredibly rewarding. Clients often tell me they’ve never experienced such profound bodywork, which confirms that becoming an MMT was the right choice. As I write this with tears of gratitude, I eagerly anticipate bringing MAT to my massage practice once my husband and I move to Nassau, The Bahamas. I hope to one day share these techniques as a MAT instructor and inspire other therapists too. I am deeply appreciative of the Dalton Gang family and especially grateful to Kim Miller for her guidance through the MMT program and to Erik Dalton, whose work has enabled me to achieve a dream career and skills that I will share with pride and gratitude for the rest of my life.
