I am licensed in New York state and have been practicing massage therapy there since 1997. Always eager to learn more and improve my skills, I studied various different techniques and attended lots of seminars over the years – including … ‘The Dirty Dozen’ seminar with Erik in 2004. I have integrated the protocols I learned during that first MAT encounter into my work. However, it was not until earlier this year that I comprehensively grasped the entire MAT concept while attending Nathan Fay’s seminar in Syracuse, NY and Eric’s workshop ‘Leveling the Head and the Tail’ in Oklahoma. The MAT assess-and-treat approach provides me with a clear understanding of where to start any session with any client. It’s beautiful. By assessing and figuring out a person’s current state every single time they come in for a treatment, I feel like I can truly meet them where they are at. It’s a brand-new session every single time, irrespective of whether I am meeting a new or recurring client. MAT has revolutionized my treatment approach, extending beyond the conventional focus just on soft tissue, but also on bones and the nervous system. This paradigm shift has enabled me to achieve more therapeutic effect with much less effort. The positive feedback from my clients is a priceless reward. MAT has also helped with improving my body mechanics, giving me the hope and confidence to do massage and body work for another 10 or even 20 years – God willing even more.
