Marina McGuire is considered by many to be the top massage therapist in Veneta. We’re delighted that she decided to pursue certification as a Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT). Achieving this certification, one of the highest standards for a massage professional, is no small feat. It takes a burning desire to get results for your clients and a great deal of commitment. You can find out more about her below. She can help you resolve pain problems that many other allied health professions struggle with, including back pain, injuries, and headaches. If you’re looking for massage therapy in Veneta, give Marina a call.
My journey into MMT began when I graduated from the Ashland Institute of Massage in 2018. While doing a case study on scoliosis during school, I came across Erik Dalton. His reasoning and approach fascinated me right from the start. After obtaining my professional license, I gained experience working in chiropractic settings and spas before eventually settling into my private practice in Veneta, OR.
Through years of practicing massage with a traditional approach, I noticed something was missing as I strived for better results for my clients. My desire to learn more about Erik Dalton’s MAT approach only grew stronger during that time. In 2023, while traveling, I made a stop in Oklahoma City for the annual MAT workshop in July. It was the best class I had ever taken, fun, educational, and eye-opening. I also discovered the MAT community, and being surrounded by both new and experienced therapists really ignited the fire to dive deeper. Not long after, I signed up for the full MMT certification program.
What I love about MAT is how it encourages me to think globally rather than just focusing on where it hurts. Studying MAT empowered me to assess with greater ease and bring more balance to the body. The techniques are easy to follow, gentle, and feel good. Even when offering relaxation massage, I can incorporate many of the MAT techniques seamlessly into my sessions.
Studying MAT has elevated my practice to the next level and filled that missing link. Clients love the techniques, and we achieve better results by addressing postural asymmetry. My work is more efficient, my clients’ long-standing issues are improving, and my practice has become much busier since adding MAT into my sessions.
For anyone considering MAT, my advice is to seek out an MMT therapist in your area and experience the work yourself. Attend a workshop. The teachers are excellent and offer classes in the U.S. and abroad. My only wish is that I had come to this work sooner in my career!
