Master Myoskeletal Therapist Spotlight: Libby Jones, MMT | Dublin, Ireland
Long before Libby Jones became a massage therapist, she was fascinated by the human body.
As a child, she would study Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical sketches, drawn to the intersection of art and anatomy. That interest stayed with her through a 25-year career as a graphic designer and eventually helped lead her toward an entirely different profession.
Libby first trained in holistic massage in 2004 and continued her education with Aubrey Gowing. She first heard about Erik Dalton’s work during this period, but it would be years before bodywork became her full-time career.
The turning point came after an injury left Libby dealing with chronic pain that would not resolve. In 2017, she left graphic design and committed fully to bodywork, determined to find a natural solution. Her search led her to Chapman’s Reflexes, stress education, neuromuscular therapy, and breath coaching.
Then she discovered Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques® (MAT).
Libby began her MAT journey with Aubrey Gowing in Dublin in 2021. The brain-based approach immediately resonated with everything she had been learning about the relationship between stress, the nervous system, and the body.
“If we improve the input to the brain, the output will improve,” she says.
When Erik Dalton came to Dublin in 2022, Libby saw an opportunity to deepen that understanding. MAT became another important piece in an approach that had been developing throughout her own journey with pain and healing.
What Libby particularly values about becoming a Master Myoskeletal Therapist® (MMT) is its whole-body perspective.
“I love how the MMT takes a holistic approach, using simple, safe techniques to bring whole body alignment and homeostasis back to our bodies.”
Today, MAT has changed how Libby practices massage therapy in Dublin. Treatment is not something she simply performs on clients. She explains what she is doing and why, inviting clients to participate in the process.
“I get them involved in their own healing, because I believe we ALL need to get to know and understand our bodies better,” Libby says. “The results speak for themselves.”
Her advice to other massage therapists reflects her enthusiasm for continued education: “When you discover how invaluable the MAT education is, I have no doubt you too will want to take your understanding, skills and career to the next level.”
Congratulations to Libby Jones on earning her MMT certification and joining the Master Myoskeletal Therapist community. Her journey from visual art to bodywork reflects a lifelong curiosity about the human body and an enduring commitment to understanding it more deeply.
