Massage therapy has been a big part of my life since I was 13, and my mother began her practice as a licensed massage therapist. After being the guinea pig for her mentoring sessions, I was fascinated with the healing art of touch and began massage therapy school two days before my high school graduation. After working in the spa industry for many years, I discovered Erik Dalton through his articles in the ABMP Massage & Bodywork magazine while studying various modalities focused on pain and dysfunction for my clients with more complex issues. I then signed up and became an avid follower of his ‘Technique Tuesday’ newsletter until I purchased my first Myoskeletal Alignment Technique home study program in 2012. The Myoskeletal foundational courses, textbooks, and DVDs completely changed how I viewed and approached massage therapy and bodywork. I stopped ‘chasing the pain’ and began looking for strain patterns, which instantly improved my practice. After attending the first annual Myoskeletal workshop in OKC in 2013 and my first live workshop with Erik Dalton, I was 100% hooked. Over the years, I’ve attended eight workshops, the latest one in Costa Rica. Spending a week with Erik, his team, and over 60 passionate therapists was genuinely life-changing. Integrating these techniques into all the services in my practice has given me the confidence to work with a variety of symptoms and conditions. I’ve built a fantastic clientele and continue to stay booked with trusting clients who are practically family. In 2023, my Mother and I completed the Master Myoskeletal Therapist program and walked the stage in OKC to receive our MMT certificate from my idol and mentor, Erik Dalton. It’s been the most rewarding accomplishment in my career. I recommend the Myoskeletal Alignment journey to anyone seeking to learn more and grow their practice. Myoskeletal has given me a strong foundation in education, confidence in my practice, and has extended the life of my career. The MAT program is a wealth of knowledge and excellence, and I am proud of how it has helped me become the massage therapist I am today.
