Life has a funny way of leading us exactly where we need to be. I never imagined I’d go from being an industrial engineer in Colombia to becoming a Master Myoskeletal Therapist in the U.S., but here I am.
Back home, I spent over 10 years working as an engineer, but when I moved to the U.S. in 2017, I had to start from scratch. I worked different jobs, trying to find my place, and in 2019, I ended up at a foot massage spa that didn’t require a license. At the time, I didn’t think much of it—it was just a job. But looking back, it was my first real introduction to bodywork.
Then the pandemic hit, and everything shut down. With so much time at home, I started reading articles, watching YouTube videos, and learning more about massage therapy. That’s when I realized that massage wasn’t just about relaxation—it was about helping people move better, feel better, and live without pain. As soon as schools reopened, I enrolled in a massage program, got licensed in 2022, and started working at a clinic specializing in clinical and neuromuscular therapy.
That’s when I found Erik Dalton and Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT). Right away, it just clicked. MAT wasn’t just another set of techniques—it was a smarter way of working with the body, focusing on movement, posture, and long-term relief. The more I learned, the more I wanted to dive deeper.
In December 2024, I completed my Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT) certification in Costa Rica, and let me tell you—that experience was something else. The environment, the training, the people—it was all unique, intense, and absolutely worth it. If you’re considering MAT, do yourself a favor and go to Costa Rica. You won’t regret it.
Now, my approach to bodywork is completely different. I see things I didn’t see before, and I can help clients in ways I couldn’t before. MAT has given me a whole new level of understanding and confidence in my work.
For anyone thinking about studying MAT—just go for it. If you love learning and want to take your skills to the next level, this is the way to do it. I’m grateful to Erik Dalton and the Freedom From Pain Institute for making this education possible. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to keep growing!
