I have been a Board-Certified Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years. I graduated from Career Networks Institute of California in 2004. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Massage Therapy from Siena Heights University. I own and operate Beaufort Massage & Bodywork in Beaufort, SC. Over the years I have worked in various spas, chiropractic offices, franchises, as well as independently. I am a certified Ashiatsu Deep Feet Bar Therapist, have taken courses in Cupping Therapy, Deep Tissue and Thai on the table.
I first took a class with Erik in June 2006 at the Long Beach Convention Center in California. I don’t remember much from that course as I think the techniques/skills were too advanced for me at that stage in my career as I was new to the massage field. Fast forward to 2022, I came across an article in the Massage/Bodywork magazine advertising about his courses and I became intrigued. I read about his work and decided to dive into his techniques and learn more. I signed up for his Oklahoma Convention Workshop in June 2022 and fell in love with the concept of corrective movement and manual therapy. It was everything I was looking for in massage and more!
This was the most incredible, intensive, eye-opening technique workshop I ever attended. The MAT techniques taught me to help relieve pain through rhythmic touch. He taught me about range of motion, the principles of assessment, physio kinetic faults and pain management.
The techniques that I incorporate with my practice show an exemplary result with my clients. I have a five-star company and booked four months out with repeat clientele. My niche is specializing in neck and shoulder pain relief. I have applied the MAT techniques to many of my clients that suffer from neck discomfort, and they all are thirsty for more.
I would suggest being open to new ideas and incorporate these techniques that will forever change the outcome of your client’s therapy session. Try taking one class and see how that fits into your routine or niche. As massage therapists we should be open to new and updated methods of pain relief and correction in our profession. If this is something that you are passionate about then don’t delay, jump right in and become part of the Dalton Gang!
