I began my journey as a massage therapist in 1995, training at The Swedish Institute in New York City. My early career included working in a variety of settings, from spas to chiropractic offices and physical therapy clinics, where I honed my skills and developed a solid foundation in bodywork. However, it wasn’t until December 2010, when I took my first online MAT continuing education course—“The 42 Pound Head” at The World Massage Conference—that I realized I needed to expand my knowledge and upgrade my hands-on skills to better help clients manage their pain.
The course introduced me to the work of Erik Dalton and sparked a realization that I could do more for my clients. Though it took time, I knew I needed to dive deeper into bodywork to truly make a difference in my practice. In the fall of 2022, I finally had the opportunity to attend my first Erik Dalton workshop in San Francisco. The experience was transformative, and upon returning home to Santa Fe, NM, I made a significant investment in my professional growth by purchasing the Foundational and Advanced MAT course bundles with the goal of becoming a Master Myoskeletal Therapist.
The course material completely blew my mind. The techniques were not only effective but also easy to perform and—most importantly—fun. Since incorporating MAT into my practice, I’ve noticed a huge shift in both my approach to sessions and the outcomes for my clients. I feel more creative in my work and look forward to each session, knowing I have a powerful set of tools to help my clients move and feel better.
I’m incredibly grateful to Erik Dalton, the wonderful support staff, and my fellow bodywork professionals who have made this journey so rewarding. Thanks to their guidance and expertise, my practice has evolved in ways I never imagined, and I feel empowered to continue learning and growing in this field.
