Master Myoskeletal Therapist® Spotlight: Christian Burns, MMT | Salt Lake City, Utah

For Christian Burns, the path to becoming a Master Myoskeletal Therapist® began with curiosity.

While attending massage school at Myotherapy Massage College in Utah, one of his instructors spoke highly of Erik Dalton’s work. Although the curriculum didn’t explore Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques® (MAT) in depth, the recommendation stayed with him. After graduation, Dalton’s technique videos began appearing in Christian’s YouTube and Instagram feeds, and one demonstration in particular caught his attention.

The technique was a hamstring pin and stretch variation that looked familiar, but Dalton’s approach revealed new ways to apply it with greater precision. Christian tried the techniques with clients, saw encouraging results, and quickly wanted to learn more. He invested in the educational bundles, continued studying the material, and eventually attended his first live workshop an experience that solidified his commitment to the Myoskeletal method.

Today, Christian practices massage therapy in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he works with athletes, desk workers, and individuals living with pain. After opening his own practice in 2026, he continues to build his clinical approach around thoughtful assessment and targeted manual therapy.

What stands out most to him about Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques® is the intentional design behind every technique.

“Each technique is intelligent and specific for what it’s intended to accomplish,” Christian says. “Some are broad techniques that address multiple areas, while others are incredibly precise. I love that level of specificity.”

That precision has changed the way he approaches treatment. Rather than becoming overwhelmed by multiple symptoms, Christian has learned to identify the underlying dysfunction driving a client’s pain and develop a more focused treatment plan.

“MAT has helped me zero in on the core problem,” he explains. “It’s also taught me what not to do, which is just as valuable. That understanding has helped me create more lasting change for my clients.”

The education has benefited more than just his practice. Christian credits the training with giving him a better understanding of his own movement patterns and helping him address dysfunction within his own body an advantage that supports both his longevity as a therapist and the quality of care he provides.

For therapists beginning their own MAT journey, Christian recommends taking advantage of every learning format available. He found that pairing the instructional videos with the course manuals reinforced key concepts, while the online testing helped confirm his understanding along the way.

His strongest recommendation, however, is attending a live workshop.

“Seeing the techniques demonstrated in person and experiencing them myself helped me understand not only how to perform the work more effectively, but how to use my own body efficiently. The workshops teach you how to work smarter, not harder.”

Christian’s story demonstrates how curiosity, continued education, and hands on experience can accelerate professional growth. Through Master Myoskeletal Therapist® certification, he has developed a more precise, confident approach to massage therapy one that continues to help clients in Salt Lake City move better, recover more fully, and find lasting relief.

Congratulations to Christian Burns on earning his Master Myoskeletal Therapist® certification and joining a community of therapists committed to advancing clinical excellence through Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques®.
