My journey with massage therapy began in 2017, when I enrolled at the Cleveland Institute of Medical Massage. From the beginning, I was fascinated by how the body functions—how pain can manifest and how, with the right approach, it can be relieved. As I built my foundation in therapeutic massage, I fell in love with the connection between bodywork and healing. Helping people feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally became my passion and purpose. I knew early on that this wasn’t just a career for me, it was a calling.

As I gained more experience in practice, I started noticing that some clients needed more than traditional massage techniques could offer. I wanted to go deeper, to really understand chronic pain patterns and postural dysfunctions in a way that would create lasting change. That’s when I discovered Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT). I was immediately drawn in by how MAT combines the best of osteopathic principles, movement science, and manual therapy into a system that just makes sense. It felt like the missing link in my work, and I knew I had to learn it.

Over the course of three years, I immersed myself in Dalton’s program and eventually earned the Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT) certification. Studying MAT challenged me to grow not just technically, but in the way I think about the body and approach each client. What I love most about MAT techniques is how precise and intelligent they are. They allow me to assess and address the root causes of pain rather than chasing symptoms. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch someone walk in with chronic discomfort and walk out with ease and relief they haven’t felt in years.

Since incorporating MAT into my work, my sessions have become much more focused and effective. Clients notice the difference, they feel results more quickly, and those results last longer. MAT has truly transformed my practice, giving me the confidence and tools to help with more complex issues like nerve entrapment, joint dysfunction, and structural imbalances. I now feel like I can meet each client where they are and guide them toward real, sustainable healing.

For anyone thinking about studying MAT or pursuing the MMT certification, my advice is simple: do it. Be ready to invest the time, stay curious, and stay committed. It’s not just about learning techniques, it’s about completely elevating your understanding of the body and how to help others. The journey is challenging, but incredibly worth it. I’m so grateful for the growth it’s brought to both my career and my ability to serve others with compassion and skill.
