My name is Kevin Coyle, MMT, LMT, and I am the owner of Southern NH Therapeutic Massage. I specialize in chronic pain and stress relief.
I am also a veteran, having retired from the United States Coast Guard in 2013, where my background was in healthcare.
My journey into the world of massage and bodywork began in 2017, when my wife was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. It was an easy decision to walk away from my employer at the time and shift my focus to what truly mattered. I wanted to do everything I could to care for her and keep her as comfortable as possible through the end of her life’s journey. With my healthcare background, pursuing a new career in massage therapy felt natural, a path where I could continue making a meaningful impact in her life and in the lives of others. I graduated in 2019 with an Associate Degree in Holistic Massage Therapy from Nashua Community College in New Hampshire and began my career in massage and bodywork.
A massage and bodywork colleague knew of my interest in expanding my skills beyond the spa setting and getting to the root cause of pain. He suggested I check out Erik Dalton and Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT). In 2022, I attended my first MAT workshop, Upper Body Techniques, hosted by Nate Fay in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the rest is history.
What I enjoy most about incorporating Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques into my sessions is that they are quick, effective, and clients respond extremely well. They experience relief from their aches and pains through techniques that are gentle on their bodies. MAT is effective because it emphasizes proper body mechanics, allowing me to work with much less physical effort. This reduces my risk of injury and helps extend my career.
Adding MAT to my practice has elevated my confidence as a therapist. I am better able to recognize pain patterns in the body, assess them accurately, and treat accordingly. I no longer feel like I am “chasing the pain.” I now see more clients with a wide range of chronic pain conditions, and my work has become even more fun and rewarding. Knowing that I play a small part in helping people live more active, pain-free lives is incredibly fulfilling.
Erik’s e-learning home study courses made the process easy. I was able to complete lessons between clients and immediately apply what I was learning, providing longer-lasting results for those I treat. The in-person workshops, led by Erik’s top-notch MAT educators, helped tie everything together and allowed me to learn alongside fellow therapists from around the world.
