Glen Fleming is considered by many to be the top massage therapist in Rogers. We’re delighted that he decided to pursue certification as a Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT). Achieving this certification, one of the highest standards for a massage professional, is no small feat. It takes a burning desire to get results for your clients and a great deal of commitment. You can read a little bit about his journey below. He is highly skilled at treating a range of myoskeletal disorders, from back to carpal tunnel syndrome. My journey in massage therapy began in 2013 when I graduated from the Lancaster School of Massage Therapy in Lancaster, PA. Later that year, I took my first continuing education course in myofascial release. I enjoyed it so much that I continued studying the modality and, by 2017, had become an Expert Level Practitioner.
It was a great beginning, but I eventually realized the approach was too broad, and I wanted a more specific protocol for treatment. That led me to pursue Medical Massage certification, which I also completed in 2017. This training gave me new ways to treat clients with greater specificity and effectiveness.
Around this same time, I stumbled across Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques on YouTube. After watching a few videos, I realized MAT was unlike anything I’d learned in school. I ordered the Lower Body Home Study course. Honestly, it was overwhelming at first and it took repeated reading and watching the videos before I began to understand it. Even today, I continue to pick up new insights when I review the materials or attend workshops. I love that the work keeps evolving as we learn more about the human body.
During this period, I also earned state-level certification in Reflexology and became fascinated by the connection between the feet and the rest of the body. Then, in 2018, I discovered James Waslaski’s work and was intrigued by his approach. Like many therapists, I spread myself across too many modalities early on. After attending two of James’s courses, I made the decision to refocus my energy on Erik Dalton’s work.
I purchased the Upper Body Home Study course and restarted my deep dive into MAT. After completing those courses, I attended one of Erik’s hands-on workshops in 2023, where I spoke with the instructor about certification. That conversation motivated me to complete the remaining courses and work toward my Master Myoskeletal Therapist certification.
At the memorial workshop for Erik Dalton in Oklahoma City in 2025, I proudly received my MMT certificate. Today, I use MAT techniques every day in my clinic, helping clients get out of pain, improve function, and experience lasting results. The techniques work, and they’re specific to the conditions clients bring into the treatment room. Erik designed them to follow clear sequences, making MAT a very efficient and effective approach to bodywork. As Erik would say, “I’m teaching you routines.”
MAT has given me true direction in my practice. I’m no longer chasing pain, I’m finding and addressing its root cause. Many of the side-lying techniques are especially powerful.
If you want to pursue a therapeutic path in massage, I highly recommend MAT training and certification. This work is far more advanced than what most of us learned in school. My advice is to take your time, study, apply the techniques, and grow with them. You and your clients will love the results.
