Answering the Call: My Journey into the Healing Arts
Embarking on a journey into the healing arts feels like a calling, a whisper from within that guides you toward your true purpose. While completing my Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, I often heard my instructors speak highly of Erik Dalton. As eager students, we were encouraged to explore his work, but I approached it with a timid curiosity, lingering in the shadows of his inspiring Instagram posts and enlightening YouTube videos.
In 2022, everything changed. While flipping through a massage magazine, I stumbled upon the “Pain Relief in Paradise” retreat in Costa Rica. The idea of traveling to such a beautiful location was enticing enough, but the opportunity to learn directly from Erik Dalton was the icing on the cake. I told myself I had nothing to lose—and before I fully grasped the immense potential for growth ahead, I committed to the adventure.
At that time, I was also deep into my graduate studies in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Little did I know how profoundly my experience in Costa Rica would enhance my understanding of both fields. Learning from Erik and “the Dalton Gang” created a fun, supportive, and insightful environment that fostered my growth as a healer.
Here’s a little secret: the courses offered at the retreat are some of the best anatomy and physiology crash courses you might ever encounter. The way the knowledge is shared is incredibly accessible, allowing me to easily reference techniques whenever needed. Plus, I can always reach out with questions, which adds an invaluable layer of support.
Becoming a Master Myoskeletal Therapist has not only deepened my knowledge and skills as a Bodywork Therapist but also enriched my practice as an Acupuncturist. The quality of care I can now provide my clients has skyrocketed, allowing me to integrate various techniques for more comprehensive healing.
A heartfelt thank you to the Dalton Gang—Scott Oglesbay, Kim Miller, and especially Nathan Fay, with whom I had the honor to complete my certification. Your support and guidance have been instrumental in my journey, and I look forward to continuing this path of learning and growth.
If you’re contemplating a similar journey or exploring the healing arts, I encourage you to take that leap. You never know how much you stand to gain!
