I have been a Physical Therapist Assistant since 2012, working alongside physical therapists who incorporated manual therapy into their treatment plans. This early exposure helped me become very familiar with the use and benefits of manual therapy, which planted the seed for pursuing my massage therapy license.

In my practice, I primarily specialize in therapeutic massage to help clients—from athletes to seniors, from head to toe—manage acute or chronic pain.

It all started when I began seeing Erik Dalton and his “Technique Tuesday” posts pop up on Instagram. I would save his techniques and use them with my clients, and the feedback I received was consistently positive. I had always wanted to travel to Costa Rica, and—lo and behold—I discovered he was hosting a workshop there. After attending the workshop and seeing firsthand the results his techniques produced, I was all in for pursuing the Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT) certification.

MAT is a kinder, gentler, non-aggressive approach to helping the body gain both mobility and flexibility. It’s rooted in science and teaches how the body responds to each technique. They not only feel good but work effectively for all body types and age groups.

This training has given me the tools to address pain at its source and a deeper understanding of how and why the body responds to these applications. Overall, I’ve found MAT techniques to be more efficient and effective in reducing pain—whether acute or chronic—and improving mobility in my clients. At times, the amount of valuable information felt overwhelming. I found it helpful to start by incorporating a few techniques here and there, gradually adding more based on each client’s needs. Before I knew it, I was using nearly an entire session of MAT techniques—and it all felt natural and intuitive.
