I started my Massage Therapy journey right out of high school with interest in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy. To me, being able to work in the bodywork field while in college seemed like a great combination. Since the age of nine, I’ve always felt connected with athletics since that was my personal experience growing up and I knew I wanted to work with the human body.

During my time in school the concept of healing and helping people using deep tissue, trigger point, and various neuromuscular therapy modalities really caught my interest. Acupressure, acupuncture, reflexology, Ida Rolf, and Janet Travell were like intellectual candy and I just wanted more. During clinical hours I realized that everyone seemed to benefit from skilled bodywork, not just athletes in the sports world. Continuing in this amazing field, I added a Personal Training certification with a Corrective Exercise specialization to my practice. Using a combination of muscle therapy restoration combined with corrective exercise enhanced my client’s overall health while helping with pain management. Working with local chiropractors also helped deepen my biomechanics knowledge and motivated me to seek out more advanced therapies.

During my research I discovered a treasure trove of information on Erik Dalton’s website blog page and as I scanned through all the articles and technique videos, it became clear that this therapy aligned very well with my current treatment protocols and exercise background. I decided very quickly to enroll in some courses and workshops to help take my work to another level. One thing led to another and soon I decided to study and become a certified Master Myoskeletal Therapist. Complementing my years of study, Erik Daltons’ forward thinking program brought a new and dynamic approach above anything I had encountered in bodywork therapy. Keeping true to the MAT techniques is also keeping true to my personal style. I believe any therapist in the hands-on bodywork field across many disciplines can all benefit from taking even one course in MAT. Having completed and received my MMT, I feel very equipped to address deeper root causes of pain and less time trying to chase the pain.
