My passion for massage therapy began at a young age while trading bodywork with friends. I found great satisfaction in helping people feel better, and receiving massages offered me much personal relief. In 2007, I fully embraced my passion for healing after being diagnosed with thoracic spine scoliosis and accompanying severe muscle spasms. At the recommendation of my physician, I sought the help of an exceptional educator and therapist at my massage school who not only helped alleviate my pain, but also, through her teachings, inspired me to expand on my technique repertoire.
After working in the massage industry for eight years without pursuing further education, I relocated from Kansas to Texas and obtained my license. When it came time to renew, I completed a 12-hour CE course which satisfied requirements, but I found it left me insufficient time to really learn the modality. This directed me to search for a nationally recognized comprehensive program that could more rapidly enhance my hands-on skills and reputation. My introduction to Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT) came through a friend I met during a lymphatic class. Prior to that, Swedish and deep tissue work were my go-to modalities. Yet, I knew I had better start looking for a modality that would be gentler on my body while bringing more immediate pain and injury relief to my clients.
MAT has proven to be an exceptional addition to my practice and has prompted me to completely alter my treatment approach. This Master Myoskeletal Therapist (210-hr MMT) training has taught me invaluable pain-relieving and client engagement skills that have increased my demand in my community. I highly recommend investing in MAT certification to anyone interested. It is a worthwhile investment of both time and money. The certification provides access to content that can be revisited whenever necessary, and the information is easily accessible. These techniques have the power to transform both you and your practice while deepening your understanding of the human body. I extend my gratitude to Erik for sharing his knowledge as an exceptional educator and an inspiration to us all.
