After 15 years in critical care nursing, I transitioned into massage therapy with a desire to focus on pain relief and injury rehabilitation.
While in school, I discovered Erik Dalton’s work and began studying his Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques right away. I graduated from massage school in February 2023, passed the board exam in March, and attended my first MAT workshop in April. I slowly continued learning from Erik’s online courses while studying Manual Lymphatic Drainage. In April 2026 I received my MMT certification. These two specialties – MAT and MLD – form the foundation of my practice today.
While in massage school, two separate individuals encouraged me to explore Erik Dalton’s work. A close friend of mine had cervical nerve entrapment affecting his right arm, which led me to my first MAT course: Treating Trapped Nerves. After seeing his condition improve through the techniques taught by Erik, we were both amazed. I like the proven reliability of MAT; it creates tangible, measurable changes in the body. The techniques are practical, effective, and rooted in Erik’s extensive background in Rolfing, osteopathy, and psychology. I appreciate how purposeful and effective the work is. I immediately knew MAT was what I wanted to pursue and specialize in as a therapist.
Even as a newer therapist, clients frequently provide positive feedback and reviews, confirming that MAT techniques deliver results. There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing a client say in amazement, “the numbness is gone!” or “I can move better now!” I love it. It’s what we live for as therapists. Regardless of where you are in your career, Erik Dalton’s work is sure to add value to your practice. For newer therapists especially, MAT provides a strong and practical foundation for understanding and addressing common dysfunctions. Erik does a great job of teaching the material clearly; our job is to continue practicing and applying his work.
