I’ve always been inclined to seek advanced education, so when preparing for clinical massage training, I decided to start traveling and attending state and national conventions. The first was in Washington in 2018 where I met and trained with James Waslaski and learned of his system for treating frozen shoulders. This opened new directions in my approach to clinical orthopedic massage treatment for sports injuries. When I returned to Puerto Rico, I continued my education by viewing an assortment of massage podcasts and studying physical therapy research papers. This enhanced my way of thinking about pain and injury cases and created better awareness during my treatment sessions. While surfing the internet one day, I discovered Indiana State University’s “Advanced Myoskeletal Massage Therapy Program” and some really nice videos by Charlie Peebles. After viewing several of the Myoskeletal treatment techniques, I knew that my future in the massage industry would lean towards this area of study. So, I immediately set out looking for more related trainings in Myoskeletal Therapy and that is when I found Erik Dalton and his “Master Myoskeletal Therapist” certification program. As a massage therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant and AD nurse for the past 15 years, I’ve been blessed to have trained with some wonderful chiropractors, physical therapists and medical doctors and Erik’s MMT program looked like the best next step in my training. So last year, I enrolled and attended my first Oklahoma City workshop with Erik and was able to meet the entire MMT team. It’s now been 1 year and 3 months since I made the decision to take the deep dive into my MMT program and it has dramatically changed the focus of how I assess and treat pain and injury conditions. Today I’m giving thanks for all the knowledge I’ve acquired. My practice has gone from being booked two weeks in advance to two months and I’m receiving “5-star” reviews and grateful feedback from my clients at my “Clinical Therapy Touch” facility.
