I started my career as an elementary education school teacher, but after many years of sharing the children’s coughs, colds, and illnesses I decided I needed to find a healthier pursuit. So, I began my bodywork training on weekends and soon became fascinated by what could be achieved through skilled hands-on education. This hooked me into exploring a range of courses to develop my skills and I have yet to stop!
During lockdown when time was abundant but no face-to-face courses could be attended, I turned to the internet to find high quality training. I soon realized having followed Erik Dalton on YouTube and by way of his newsletters, that MAT could be just what I was looking for to give me the skills to treat a wider range of people and conditions. When I saw that Erik Dalton would be doing a conference in Dublin, Ireland, I was keen to attend and this turned out to be the key that helped build my enthusiasm to complete the Master Myoskeletal Therapist program. The following year, I returned to Dublin to attend Aubrey Gowing’s MAT course to conclude my 50 hours of live training.
MAT techniques are clearly taught and explained, whether online or in live workshops. As you work through the courses, you realize there isn’t a ‘one technique fits all’ approach. Erik has assembled a variety of options to perform a specific technique or several options for a particular condition. My practice has changed considerably since completing the courses and I primarily use all MAT techniques now. They work effectively and the results have been very positive, helping me grow my business through word of mouth. I would recommend finding the time to do an online course or attending a workshop where your enthusiasm may be sparked to complete the Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT) certification!
