Directly after graduating university I started my career in business as a projects manager. After working several years in the field, I felt the need for more “human being stuff” in my daily work.
I went on to complete my massage education in the Netherlands, and then began searching for a program that embodied practical hands-on techniques that might have a more profound effect on my client’s pain complaints. Then I discovered Erik’s weekly Technique Tuesday newsletters. Erik and his colleagues are such an inspiring team of therapists that make you want to just dive right in to all the theory and practice. The team is very professional, well organized, and I like that everything is visually augmented, technically explained, and scientifically researched.
The human body has a wide range of possibilities for healing and there exists so many approaches to pain management. As a bodyworker you really need to decide which way to go and what method actually teaches you the hands-on skills that really help your clients. There are a lot of “philosophy of massage” teachings out there but for me, I prefer the practical stuff I can take to the clinic and help people right away.
Currently, I’m studying osteopathy and have had great success in integrating these principles and techniques with my Myoskeletal work. As Erik states in one of his courses: “Bodywork is a constant process of learning and developing.
