Anne Hooter

Anne Hooter is considered by many to be the top massage therapist in La Place. We’re delighted that she decided to pursue certification as a Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT). Achieving this certification, one of the highest standards for a massage professional, is no small feat. It takes a burning desire to get results for your clients and a great deal of commitment. You can read a little bit about her journey below. She is highly skilled at treating a range of myoskeletal disorders, from back to carpal tunnel syndrome. I began my journey in bodywork in 1999 by enrolling in a clinical massage therapy program at Blue Cliff College in the state of Louisiana. Most of the curriculum at the time was based in New Age philosophies and my passion leaned more toward the Western model of manual therapy and movement in dealing with those in chronic pain. It was my desire to learn how to identify and correct dysfunctional movement patterns to improve my client’s quality of life and improve performance in my athletic population. Fortunately, my clinical massage instructor from Switzerland had a medical background and was truly phenomenal. She encouraged me to stick with the program because she saw my potential and knew my desire to make a difference in people’s lives through manual therapy.

After graduation, I was introduced to Paul St. John’s Neuromuscular Therapy, NMT 2000 certification course. I attended workshops and became NMT certified and at that time I began hearing about Erik Dalton and seeing his home study courses advertised in professional trade magazines.

From 2000 to 2005, I had a very busy full time practice before becoming pregnant with twins. I was blowing out my thumbs and jeopardizing my own body working on New Orleans Saints football players and the coaches so I took a break for a couple of years until my twins started school.

In 2009, one of my original clients began nudging me back into practice due to his chronic pain condition. I knew from the get-go that I wouldn’t last long in this profession if I returned to my old ways of doing things so I decided to order all of Erik’s courses available at the time. I submerged myself in study and as a result, I returned to full time practice and my body has never felt better.

Myoskeletal Alignment has not only extended my career physically, it has also made a huge difference in the lives of my clients by enabling them to better understand their pain and how to work together to bring them relief. Today, prominent physicians in the area refer patients to me and lawyers send their injured accident clients. This has only been made possible through the knowledge and understanding garnered though my MAT training. In my opinion, Erik Dalton has help take the manual and movement field to a new level in his 25 years of teaching. His approach is easily implementable in a clinical or spa type setting.

I am proud to be the very first Master Myoskeletal Therapist in the great state of Louisiana and I’m constantly encouraging all of my manual therapy colleagues to look into Erik’s programs. Until the state of Louisiana has MMTs in every parish, I will be shouting from the rooftops the awesome and diligent skills I’ve learned in this training. Proud to be an MMT
