MMT Story – MAT honed my practice and identity.

I have been a student of the human body for, as my husband says, a long, long time. I was trained in classical ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics. This training and practice of living arts began at the age of 4 years and the biomechanics of the human form has always intrigued me. In 1993, I found the culmination of years of schooling and study in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and body movement as I achieved my exercise physiology certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Yet, as an aerobics instructor, personal trainer, and health and fitness specialist for the Department of Defense, I still asked myself … What am I? How do I explain what I do for people? Enter Erik Dalton’s Dynamic Body book. While reading, I immediately found that Erik Dalton spoke my language. I have always known and shared with clients that it’s the small, unknown, unseen muscles that are the true workhorses of the body and that we are not compartmentalized structurally. Erik has created a language that people can understand. I began investigating more of Erik’s teachings while applying his Myoskeletal Techniques on willing clients. Both me and my clients were WOWed with the results. Recently, I had a client return after a first treatment telling me he could walk down the stairs the morning after his first treatment. That was a big deal for his quality of life.

I completed the Freedom from Pain Institute’s first-tier courses and was able to apply the CEs toward my ACSM requirements. In 2021, I attended the Oklahoma City workshop and was warmly welcomed into an amazing community of skilled bodyworkers from all over the world. Thanks to the Dalton Team for encouraging me to complete the second-tier courses and earn my Master Myoskeletal Therapist credential at Erik’s Ireland event in 2022.

Erik’s MAT has allowed me to marry knowledge and hands-on skills into a solid platform so I can better educate my clients. My clients now proactively schedule regular appointments rather than “rescue” appointments, just when their body hurts. Home retraining exercises are essential to my overall success and my exercise physiology background has really helped in that regard. I now know what to say about what I do and who I am…I am a Master Myoskeletal Therapist. Thank you, Erik Dalton, and the entire Dalton Team.
