Christopher Clarke is considered by many to be the top massage therapist in Clearwater. We’re delighted that he decided to pursue certification as a Master Myoskeletal Therapist (MMT). Achieving this certification, one of the highest standards for a massage professional, is not easy. It takes a burning desire to get results for your clients and a great deal of commitment. You can read a little bit about his journey below. He is highly skilled at treating a range of myoskeletal problems, from back to carpal tunnel syndrome. I was traditionally trained as a sports massage and neuromuscular therapist, with a strong focus on postural restoration and structural balance. I graduated in 2002 with an Associate of Science in Advanced Therapeutic Massage from the Florida College of Natural Health, and from the beginning of my career, I’ve been drawn to work that helps clients move better and resolve pain patterns at their source rather than simply chasing symptoms.
I first discovered Erik Dalton through an article he wrote in one of the professional association publications I regularly read. His perspective immediately stood out to me, and I signed up for his Technique Tuesday emails to keep learning. The more I studied his work, the more I realized MAT offered exactly the kind of clinical reasoning and practical application I wanted to bring into my own practice.
What I appreciate most about MAT is that it changed the way I think about pain and dysfunction. I no longer feel like I have to fight stubborn knots or force tissue to release. Instead, if I can free restricted joints, address nerve entrapment, and help downregulate the nervous system, the pain and “knots” often resolve on their own. That shift made my work more effective and far less frustrating—for both me and my clients.
The results have been significant. Clients return without the same issues they originally came in for, and they continue referring their friends and loved ones because they trust the outcomes. That kind of lasting change is what every therapist hopes to create.
For anyone interested in MAT education or pursuing Master Myoskeletal Therapist certification, my advice is simple: study deeply and practice consistently. Read the books. Practice on a body while you watch the videos. Re-read the books. Re-watch the videos. Then do it again. Mastery comes through repetition, curiosity, and a commitment to refining your craft. Enjoy the process of becoming better at what you do.
