Technique Tuesday Spotlight

Unilateral Neck Stretch:The Unilateral Neck Stretch is a gentle way to warm the cervical soft tissue and prepare the neck for more specific work. Using rhythmic counterforce, this technique helps reduce protective guarding, soften tension through the lateral neck and suboccipitals, and improve comfortable head rotation. It’s a simple, effective starting place for clients who feel compressed, restricted, or stiff through the neck and shoulders.

"It’s amazing how you developed these techniques that literally change the quality of peoples lives. My fibro client is raving about how much better she feels and her doctor wants to refer other patients to me. I now have a waiting list and I'm booked solid."

"Throughout the years I have taken many CE classes which were a complete waste of time. Many courses out there claim many different things. Dalton's courses actually deliver. As soon as I received the material, I got started right away. I was actually amazed when my clients were getting great results (sad but true, I was skeptical). Thank you, Mr. Dalton for sparking a new, creative and remarkable passion in my practice."

"Great material! It gave me the chance to help more clients through a range of techniques beyond what I learned in massage school. Best online course I’ve ever taken."

Learn Erik’s “Bench Work” Routine!

In Myoskeletal Mobilization Massage, you learn from legendary practitioner Erik Dalton through the courses he created to share his work with therapists worldwide. One of the unique features of this course is Bench Work, a series of innovative seated techniques that expand your treatment options beyond the table. Ideal for onsite athletic events or for clients who are uncomfortable in other positions, these approaches offer surprisingly effective ways to assess and correct soft tissue and joint restrictions. Working in a seated position often provides better access to the neck, shoulders, ribcage, and low back, allowing you to mobilize these areas with greater ease and precision. Bench Work is practical, versatile, and a game-changer for therapists looking to deliver results in a wider range of client situations.

Cervical Restrictions in a Forward-Head World by Erik Dalton

Forward-head posture is everywhere, and it changes more than neck muscles. It alters cervical joint mechanics, increases guarding, and can contribute to headaches, shoulder strain, and restricted motion. In this blog post, we explore the upper and lower cervical spine, explain why restrictions develop, and share six MAT techniques designed to level the head, improve joint mobility, reduce compression, and restore easier pain-free movement.
