Dalton Product Reviews

"This Advanced Myoskeletal book is a great boon of reading; you will enjoy an encapsulated version of this distinguished practitioner’s many years of study, practice, teaching, and reflection about his own work."

Robert Calvert, founder, Massage Magazine
"I highly recommend Erik Dalton's Myoskeletal Techniques to all my students. It helps them handle frustrating neck and low back challenges they see in the workplace every day.”

Jim Asher
Advanced Rolfing® Instructor, Rolf Institute®
"Erik’s ability to motivate and stimulate will take your senses to a whole new level. The first time I saw him teach, I was awestruck. It was obvious that his desire to educate others was not based on monetary gain. If you want to learn more, heal more and achieve more for your patients, clients, athletics, and yourself, hook your self to Erik Dalton and strap yourself in, and hang on for the ride of a lifetime."

Perry Isenberg
Partner in Performance Health, manufactures of Biofreeze® and Prossage®.
Erik Dalton's new Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques book will revolutionize your approach to treating complex pain and injury conditions. In my 25 years in the manual therapy field, Dalton's text stands out as one of the most informative and well-written books I have had the pleasure of reading. This colorfully illustrated user-friendly text successfully blends original, practice-building massage techniques that will enhance any sports medicine, structural integration or medical massage practice. If you can read only one pain management book, this would be my recommendation...once started, you won’t be able to put it down.

MASSAGE TODAY

Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques presents many years of examining and studying and defining what myoskeletal techniques are. Examples include "Stretching," "Adverse Neural Tension," "Evolution of Human Touch," "The Common Compensatory Pattern: Its Origin and Relationship to the Postural Model," "The Dirty Dozen," "Beat Pain at its Own Game," and "Minutes, Myofascia and Maintenance." In some books, you can skip reading the foreword and introduction. Please do not do this here. Everything in this book is worthwhile. The main topic of the book is pain. He explains what causes pain, describes ways to improve the situation, and illustrates and lists what massage therapists can do to relieve the source of the problem of pain.

He also educates the client on how to prevent pain in the future. This is a process that involves the client, massage therapist(s), personal trainer and medical doctor all taking an active role. The material in this book is very well-organized. The illustrated pictures, highlighted information and detailed steps of the techniques for the "dirty dozen," the assessment tests and the receptor tests are very clear, of high quality, easy to understand, and very helpful.

By reading and using the material in Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques, you will improve your pain management skills. Using Erik Dalton's three lines of defense for chronic myoskeletal pain the "dirty dozen" techniques, myoskeletal zone therapy and receptor techniques for difficult necks you will find you are able to help many of your clients.

MTJ -MASSAGE THERAPY JOURNAL
Erik Dalton's Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques

After many years of teaching, writing and producing technique videos, Rolfer Erik Dalton brings his own brand of history taking, assessment and treatment for chronic pain conditions to this book. Using the term myoskeletal, Dalton guides the practitioner into the realm of the interdependent functions of the myofascial, skeletal and nervous systems. Emphasizing that the body is the primary healer, his discussion of sympathetic innervation and the myofascial system is clear and easy to understand. He offers though provoking perspectives on various conditions, including crossed syndromes, fibromyalgia, depression and body pain, scoliosis, and pinched nerves. Unambiguous photographs illustrate techniques and tests, such as the Brugger test to determine if head/ neck pain is emanating from pelvic imbalance.

Definitions of terms can be found throughout the text, and a specific glossary for testing and treating sensory integrative disorders is included. Dalton has made a valuable contribution to our profession's literature with this comprehensive text exploring the pathophysiology and treatment of chronic pain. This book has plenty to offer to students, but will be a particularly rewarding reference for experienced clinical practitioners with advanced palpation skills."

"What a wonderful educational book! I'll be recommending it to all my students. You make a tremendous contribution to the massage therapy bodywork community with your teaching and your books and videos. You tackle extremely interesting and difficult subjects in sharing your knowledge, not only of specific massage bodywork techniques, but more importantly, giving an understanding of how the body works. This enables the student to do so much more than just mimicking strokes and allows that next level of understanding that can actually facilitate healing." I can not imagine any serious bodyworker who would not greatly benefit from this book."

“Dr. Dalton's book on Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques has more useful information on anatomy, assessment techniques, and muscle/ joint biomechanics than most books I read in medical school and orthopedic training. It is clear, concise and presented systematically so massage therapists can apply the information the same day in their bodywork practices.”

"Erik, delivers much more than a product. He is a facilitator of learning. Anyone serious about learning simplified treatments for complex pain conditions is missing out if you are not taking advantage of this unbelievable offer. Take it from an old timer (15 years in the field) and a teacher of many different massage modalities both as a private education instructor and a Steiner Educator. You can only help more people and save yourself as well."

"In my work as a yoga therapist and MT, I find that your training has helped me across the board. First, I can apply much of this within yoga therapy. Secondly, when I sit at my computer for hours and hours writing, I can easily visualize in my mind, my own bodily dysfunction and self correct thanks to you.

Your training has been a feather in my cap and -I really want to thank
